Cuisine at Coutettaz

Where TASTEBUDS are tingled

Exceptional Alpine dining

Guests at Hotel Coutettaz tend to have a few things in common. They ADORE the area. They live for the slopes. And, typically, they love food. We’re known for our beautiful, MODERN EUROPEAN cuisine, filled with the freshest local ingredients and prepped with passion and flair. Indulge in hearty breakfasts; sample IRRESISTIBLE home-baked cakes, scones, and brownies for afternoon tea; enjoy canapés and post-dinner chocolates by the crackling fire. And spend each day with your heart and belly full.

Talented chefs, delectable cuisine

We’re notoriously passionate about food. And that brings some of the best chefs in the region to our Hotel’s kitchen. Bustling among hot pans and heaving ovens, they create tantalising modern European dishes inspired by Alpine cuisine. In the evenings, expect richly flavoured canapés, from coconut and panko prawns to pea and feta tartlets; starters of burnt leeks and beetroot cured salmon; elegant mains, such as brined duck, guinea fowl and sea bass risotto. And to follow? Thoughtfully selected cheeses and showstopping desserts. Enjoy.

Flavour comes first

At Hotel Coutettaz, French flair meets English reserve. In our service, in our décor – and in our food. We let our flavours do the talking, carefully selecting ingredients and perfecting our recipes to create understated dishes that look beautiful and taste exceptional. Done right, even the simplest course can prove to be a standout delight. And here, invariably, it is. So whatever’s on the menu, you’ll leave your table full, happy, and dreaming of the next night’s dinner.

Beautiful Hotel Coutettaz is steeped in tradition and is an absolutely lovely place to stay. Dinner is around a large candlelit table every evening with all the other guests and the many courses are all delicious.”

The finest local ingredients

Beautiful food depends on the best ingredients. For us, that means sourcing as locally as we can. Much of our produce comes from the Haute Savoie region; we buy cheese from the nearby Fruitiere, eggs from Ferme du Caly, meat from Alivtande. Our jams are locally made and our breads freshly baked, close by. Why? The proof is in the pudding, as they say. Join us for dinner; you’ll see.

We partner with LOCAL suppliers to bring you the best Haute Savoie ingredients – and the most exceptional flavours

An unmissable dining experience

Our food is arguably among the best in the region. And the experience? Worth writing home about. Our warm yet discreet front of house team serves our seasonal four-course meals in an inviting, often candlelit dining room that perfectly balances chic French style with jovial English hospitality. Dress for dinner and order an aperitif or lounge in your thickest jumper with your favourite, heart-warming red; just be sure to make room for dessert.

The food was incredible and the staff were wonderful. Hotel Coutettaz has been so tastefully restored. A truly beautiful place.”

Big breakfasts for even bigger days

A full day on the slopes demands more than a hurried slice of toast. At Hotel Coutettaz, we breakfast properly. In winter it’s hot and hearty: think spiced apple crumble porridge; pancakes with bacon, charred pineapple and syrup; potato hash; perfect eggs. Squeeze in a little homemade granola or a fresh, flaky pastry too, if you can. And summer is lighter but no less lovely: a buffet-style affair, filled with fresh fruit and beautiful baked goods to fuel your day’s adventure.

From the garden

For more than 30 years, our owners – Dorrien and Di – have poured love into every corner of Hotel Coutettaz. Including the garden. It’s a productive haven of broccoli, brassicas, carrots, beetroot and squash; soft fruits, apples and plums; and fragrant herbs like sage, thyme and rosemary. So when we say local, we mean it; sometimes, the produce on your plate has come from little further than our own doorstep.

Wherever we can, we use produce GROWN in the Hotel’s garden. It doesn’t get more local than that.

Big, beautiful wines

You might be a casual appreciator of a good wine or a true aficionado. Regardless, you’ll find something to love in the Hotel Coutettaz bar and cellar. We’ve lined the historic stone walls with predominantly French vintages including red and white Burgundies, Bordeaux and Monbazillac dessert wine, while at the bar we pour Viognier, Côte du Rhône and more. It’s taken us a lifetime to source the very best; we expect you’ll drink them far more quickly.

Breakfast cooked to your personal taste, afternoon tea and finally the dinner every evening makes this the perfect place for a holiday. If I could have rated it with 6 stars I would.”

Beers, cocktails and more

Is yours an Espresso Martini? A classic Old Fashioned? Or a freshly poured and softly bubbling IPA? Wines are just the beginning of our drinks menu. We’ll gladly shake or stir anything you could wish for, and our cellar is generously stocked with gins, whiskeys and other spirits and liqueurs. Ask us for a recommendation, if you’d like to try something new. And of course we serve a locally crafted ale, Mont Blanc IPA, for post-piste beers too. Bottoms up.

Glass of Bordeaux, craft ale or classic dry martini. Our private bar and wine cellar await – WHATEVER your tipple.

The food was delicious, whatever you could want for breakfast, welcoming tea time goodies, tasty canapés before dinner in the sitting room with a gorgeous fire and dinner was a surprise every evening with a fabulous Christmas eight courses. There were satsumas and chocolates everywhere for you to help yourself, it was like staying with family or friends but more relaxed.”
