Despite being a former jail, you find nothing at all prison-esque about CELL. Although – hold on a moment. Were there once bars on that window? Well, you wouldn’t mind being locked up here, ensconced in the big, BEAUTIFUL bed and dreaming of your next day on the slopes. And that generous bath, nestled in the cosy en-suite, looks PARTICULARLY INVITING. Perhaps you’ll take a dip tomorrow, after you kick off your skis. But for now: stretch, roll, slumber. This is the life.

Quirk and charm

Don’t be fooled by the name. Cell is, of course, luxurious – all eleven of the bedrooms are in our boutique Morzine hotel. But it’s also one of our most characterful spaces, bathed in soft yellow and blending original features and antique touches with must-have modern comforts.

This room has history

Search for clues: the ghosts of bars on the window, the beautifully weathered stone wall. In the 19th century the Morzine mayor, a former owner of the manor house, turned what might have been a parlour or tack room into the local jail. There was once a cheese cellar hidden beneath Cell, too. Don’t look so hopeful; it’s long gone now.

Step into the garden

There are a couple of benefits to being on the ground floor. The first: easy access, a godsend for adventure-wearied legs that couldn’t possibly face the stairs. The other? Your view onto the Hotel garden. Look out for the old water trough – the historic gossiping spot of the manor house cattle.
